The FLIDA-L E-Mail Service

The purpose of the FLIDA-L electronic mailing list is to provide announcements and reminders about FLIDA projects and activities.

FLIDA-L is not a chat list. This list is moderated to prevent inappropriate messages and SPAM being sent to subscribers. As a general rule, messages are only distributed if they are of general interest to the majority of its subscribers.

If you subscribe to FLIDA-L mailing list, you can expect, at most, 10-15 messages per month regarding:


• Announcements and reminders of statewide and regional FLIDA meetings, events and other related business.
  
• Occasional updates on FLIDA initiatives and efforts, especially newsworthy items.
• Notifications of updates to FLIDA web site.
• Other matters deemed pertinent by the list owners and moderators.

To Subscribe to FLIDA-L:

1. Send e-mail to listserv@lists.ufl.edu
2. In the body of your e-mail put
   
   

   SUBSCRIBE FLIDA-L firstname lastname
   

   Example: SUBSCRIBE FLIDA-L Thomas Edison
   (Do not put "Thomas Edison" or we will delete your subscription. Use your real name.)
   

Later, check your e-mail:

3. You will first receive a confirmation message. You must then reply OK to the confirmation to be automatically added to FLIDA-L.
   (Alternatively, the confirmation message will give you a web address to use to confirm your subscription.)
   

Encounter a problem?

• Be sure the subject line of your E-mail is blank. Also, do not use any stylized fonts or signature files in your E-mail.
• Double check that you have spelled the address correctly. It is listserv, not listserve, with an added "e"
• Be certain that you sent your request to listserv@lists.ufl.edu, not to the FLIDA-L mailing list itself!
• You are not subscribed until you confirm your subscription as described in step 3. Once you are subscribed, you will receive a confirmation E-mail, including instructions for unsubscribing, reviewing the archives and other list functions.

1. Send an E-mail to listserv@lists.ufl.edu
2. Use no subject or signature
3. In the body of the E-mail put UNSUBSCRIBE FLIDA-L

To Post Messages to FLIDA-L:

• Subscribers to the list can post to the entire list by sending their E-mail message to flida-l@lists.ufl.edu
• You may or may not be notified that your message has been distributed to the list, depending on the listserv's configuration. However, if your message appears on the FLIDA-L Web page archives, it was successfully posted (typically within 24 hours).

Please note, FLIDA-L is a moderated list.

• Your message will first be screened by a FLIDA-L moderator. If the list moderator approves the message, your message will be sent to all subscribers on the FLIDA-L list.
• If you wish to reply to a message, reply only to the author of the message (not to the entire FLIDA-L list) unless you feel the reply should be viewed by the entire list.
• List moderators reserve the right to withhold any message not deemed appropriate for the FLIDA-L list.
